DAP Sarawak confirms seven contested seats in Kuching and Bau for the 13th State Election. Read the full candidate allocation and party strategy.
DAP Sarawak has confirmed it will field candidates in seven state seats across the Kuching and Bau areas in the upcoming 13th Sarawak State Election, with a possible eighth seat still under consideration, state chairman Chong Chieng Jen announced on 1 November.
Chong, who chaired a party state committee meeting on that day, named the seven confirmed seats as Padungan, Pending, Batu Kitang, Kota Sentosa, Batu Kawah, Tasik Biru and Opar. He added that Batu Lintang remained a possibility as an eighth contested seat.
Writing on Facebook following the meeting, Chong said the party’s aim was to bring more representation into the State Legislative Assembly and strengthen oversight mechanisms for Sarawakians.
Sibu, Miri and Other Seats to Be Announced Within Fortnight
Chong said DAP Sarawak would announce its seat allocations for Sibu, Sarikei, Bintulu and Miri within one to two weeks.
The party’s showing in the previous Sarawak state election, held in 2021, was modest. Of the 26 seats DAP contested in the 12th Sarawak State Election, it won only two — Padungan and Pending. The ruling coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) dominated that election, capturing 76 of the 82 seats up for grabs, while Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) secured four seats.
The Election Commission is scheduled to hold a special meeting on 6 November to deliberate on key dates for the 13th Sarawak State Election.
