Parliament to Discuss Disability Employment and Economic Policies in Dewan Rakyat
KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat sitting on Monday (March 3) will focus on key discussions regarding employment opportunities for disabled individuals, economic sector integration, and public infrastructure.
Challenges in Hiring Disabled Individuals
According to the Parliament’s Order Paper, Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan (BN-Kuala Pilah) will raise a question to the Human Resources Minister about strategies to improve job opportunities for disabled individuals. Many companies remain hesitant to hire them due to concerns over workplace accessibility, lack of confidence, and minimal awareness of inclusivity policies.
Developing Malaysia’s Semiconductor Sector
Datuk Ahmad Amzad Mohamed @ Hashim (PN-Kuala Terengganu) is expected to question the Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister regarding plans to align the raw materials sector with processing and manufacturing industries. This initiative supports Malaysia’s ambition to strengthen its semiconductor industry as part of its high-tech economic framework.
Concerns Over Road Safety and Maintenance
Another pressing issue is infrastructure, with Datuk Wetrom Bahanda (KDM-Kota Marudu) seeking updates from the Works Minister on efforts to repair pothole-damaged federal roads, which pose significant risks to motorists.

Food Security and Agricultural Data
Hassan Saad (PN-Baling) will inquire about the 2024 Agricultural Census and its role in shaping national food security strategies through the MySAgR database. The data collected is expected to contribute to better agricultural planning and food production stability.
Shortages in the Nursing Workforce
Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) has submitted a question to the Health Minister regarding the resignation of nurses from the Health Ministry. He seeks insights into the reasons behind these resignations and the number of nurses needed in new and existing healthcare facilities.

Following the Q&A session, the Dewan Rakyat will continue with the second reading of the Supplementary Supply Bill (2024) 2025, presented by the Finance Minister, as well as deliberations on the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2025.
