Flood Crisis: Over 106,000 Sheltered | Kelantan Hit Hardest
Floods leave over 100,000 displaced in Malaysia. Kelantan leads in evacuees; rising water levels worsen the crisis.
The Scale of Displacement
KUALA LUMPUR: Floods continue to wreak havoc across eight Malaysian states, displacing over 106,000 residents by Friday evening (Nov 29). Kelantan remains the most severely affected, with 72,360 evacuees in 261 centres.
Kelantan Districts Worst Affected
Pasir Mas district recorded the most evacuees, totaling nearly 24,000. Major rivers in the state, such as Sungai Lanas and Sungai Kelantan, are reporting dangerously high levels.
Terengganu and Its Major Challenges
Terengganu follows closely with 24,754 evacuees, with Besut housing nearly half of them. Rising water levels in multiple river basins have prompted early warnings.
