A suspect in the murder of interior designer Muhammad Sharqawi Abu Bakar, 36, will be charged tomorrow in the Petaling Jaya Court. The confirmation comes from Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaafar, the District Police Chief of Petaling Jaya.

The suspect, a 50-year-old man without employment, was detained by authorities at an apartment in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 20, along with two other individuals. The police investigation revealed that the suspect’s motive was robbery, which resulted in the fatal incident.

According to Shahrulnizam, the suspect broke into Muhammad Sharqawi’s residence with the intent of committing theft. The break-in was interrupted by the victim, leading to a struggle that ended with the victim suffering fatal injuries.

The crime took place on Sept. 16, and Muhammad Sharqawi was discovered at his residence in Persiaran Meranti, Bandar Sri Damansara, with over 20 stab wounds. Initially considered a simple break-in, the case was later reclassified as a robbery leading to death due to missing personal belongings.
