Russell Brand Convicted of Rape and Three Sexual Assault Charges at London Court

A jury at Southwark Crown Court in London found British comedian and actor Russell Brand guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault on Thursday, 5 November 2026, according to a report by Anadolu Ajansi.

Brand, 51, had faced seven charges in total — three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of attempted indecent assault. The jury returned a guilty verdict on four of those charges.

Allegations Spanning a Decade

The offences alleged against Brand span a period from 1999 to 2009. Six women brought complaints in the case, and all six are entitled to lifelong anonymity under British law.

Brand attended the hearing accompanied by his wife, Laura Brand.

Sentencing Set for Monday

Following the delivery of the verdict, presiding judge Justice Bennathan addressed Brand directly, telling him to be seated before indicating that a custodial sentence was likely. The judge said that given the guilty verdict on at least one of the counts, “obviously a custodial sentence of some length will result.”

Justice Bennathan also described the case as “very well prepared” and confirmed that a sentencing hearing would be held on Monday.
