Tabung Haji Over 84,000 Haj Appeals Received, Says Minister

KUALA LUMPUR: The Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has received 84,000 appeals for vacant haj slots from those who were not initially selected for this year’s pilgrimage, according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Among the applicants, 80,000 have expressed their readiness to fully finance their haj pilgrimage, reflecting the high demand for additional slots.

Confirmed Pilgrims and Flight Schedules

Mohd Na’im also reported that 91% of the 31,600 approved pilgrims have confirmed their haj participation. The remaining slots will be allocated to individuals from the appeal list.

“As of today, 91% of our selected pilgrims have confirmed their departure and have received their respective flight schedules,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the Saudi government would approve an additional quota of 10,000 pilgrims for Malaysia.

Awaiting Response on Additional Quota Request

Speaking at a Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council event under the Rahmah Madani Ramadan programme on Thursday (March 13), Mohd Na’im mentioned that an official appeal for extra haj slots has been submitted to Saudi authorities.

“Currently, we are waiting for feedback from the Saudi government on whether our request for additional quota will be granted,” he added.
