Johor Immigration Department Rounds Up 75 Undocumented Migrants
JOHOR BARU: A large-scale immigration enforcement effort in Johor led to the arrest of 75 undocumented foreigners over two days at two different sites by Johor Immigration.
Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus, director of the state’s Immigration Department, revealed that the operations, conducted on Tuesday (March 4) and Wednesday, mainly resulted in the detention of Myanmar and Indonesian nationals.
First Operation at a Known Hotspot
“In the first raid, carried out at 3pm at the Pandan wholesale market area—a known hub for undocumented workers—officials checked 20 premises and 66 individuals.
“Following these checks, 35 were taken into custody for violating immigration laws,” he said on Thursday.

Midnight Inspection Leads to Additional Arrests
The second raid, launched at 12.30am in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, involved the inspection of nine commercial units and questioning of 64 foreigners.
“During this operation, officers detained 40 individuals without valid documentation,” he stated, attributing the crackdown to numerous public reports about illegal workers.
Immigration Violations and Legal Consequences
The detainees included 30 Myanmar nationals (nine of whom were women), 30 Indonesians (including 19 women), 11 Bangladeshi men, two Pakistani men, and two Vietnamese men, aged 18 to 55.
Seven notices were also issued to individuals required to assist in the investigation, while the arrested individuals have been placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further proceedings.
