PETALING JAYA: The LRT3 line, set for a September 2025 launch, will transform transit in the western Klang Valley with an expected 200,000 daily ridership.

Route and Future Capacity Expansion

This 37km Shah Alam Line will connect Kampung Johan Setia, Klang, with Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, initially handling 6,210 passengers per hour in each direction, with an increase to 7,341 pphpd by 2028.

Expanded Infrastructure for Greater Efficiency

The government is investing in additional resources, including seven train sets, 150 electric buses, and two depots, ensuring robust public transport options.

Prasarana’s Strategic Transit Plans

Prasarana’s president Azharuddin Mat Sah explained the reduced cost of station reinstatement at RM4.2 billion, part of a larger strategy to increase public transport ridership.

Completion Timeline and Future Growth

With 96% completion, the Shah Alam LRT will begin regulatory testing by April, with the additional stations set to open in 2028.
