BANGKOK: With torrential rain triggering widespread flooding in Southern Thailand, Malaysians have been urged by the Consulate in Songkhla to avoid non-essential travel to the region.
Statement from Consul General Ahmad Fahmi
“Persistent rainfall has resulted in severe floods, displacing thousands,” said Consul General Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Sarkawi on Thursday (Nov 29). He advised travelers to exercise extreme caution during this period.
Safety Tips for Malaysians in Southern Thailand
Those already in Southern Thailand are reminded to stay updated on weather conditions and adhere to the guidance provided by local authorities. “Protect your safety and assist one another where possible. Consular services are available at +6693-6570707,” he added.
Extent of Flooding in Southern Provinces
According to Thailand’s DDPM, the floods have impacted seven southern provinces, including Pattani and Nakhon Si Thammarat, affecting over 136,000 households and more than 1,800 villages.

Emergency teams have been deployed, along with resources like boats and rescue helicopters, to assist in evacuation efforts. Local volunteers and authorities continue to coordinate relief operations and damage assessments to ensure aid reaches affected communities.
