Flood Situation Worsens Across Malaysia

The number of flood evacuees has doubled to almost 95,000 in just 24 hours, with three fatalities reported as heavy monsoon rains continue to ravage the country.

Kelantan and Terengganu Hit Hardest

Kelantan recorded 63,761 evacuees, the highest among affected states, with fatalities in Pasir Puteh and Machang. Terengganu follows closely with 22,511 evacuees across seven districts.

States Grapple with Rising Water Levels

Other affected states include Kedah (5,619 evacuees), Negri Sembilan (1,822), and Perlis (485). Selangor, Melaka, Perak, and Johor also report displaced residents as rivers breach danger levels.

Massive Relief Operations Underway

Over 527 temporary relief centres have been established nationwide to shelter displaced families. The Welfare Department has requested an additional 50,000 food retorts for distribution.

Disaster Management Efforts Intensify

Nadma and SMART teams, alongside police and military personnel, are conducting rescue operations. Authorities urge residents in flood-prone areas to evacuate promptly.
